Lower Klamath Lake is a shallow freshwater lake located in Northern California, near the border with Oregon. The lake covers an area of approximately 50 square miles and is part of the Klamath Basin, which encompasses over 8,000 square miles of wetlands, forests, and mountains.
Lower Klamath Lake is an important habitat for a wide variety of fish, birds, and other wildlife. It is one of the largest remaining freshwater wetlands in California and provides critical habitat for migratory birds such as bald eagles, sandhill cranes, and snow geese.
